Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday wrote to Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan, requesting that only verified information related to points raised during the Vande Mataram discussion be placed on record. In his letter, Amit Shah pointed to certain "incidents of unacceptable conduct" by a few political leaders and lawmakers, which he said he had referred to during the Vande Mataram discussion in the Upper House.

During the discussion on the Indian national song, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh had asked for verified information to be placed on the table of the House.
