A Fairbanks Area Surface Transportation Planning committee received a snapshot of the survey results regarding a summer-long pilot project of two downtown Fairbanks bicycle lanes.

From May to September, Barnette Street and 10th Avenue were re-stripped to test whether bicycle lanes would be feasible when either road is eventually reconstructed.

The pilot project was a concept developed by FAST Planning, in coordination with the city of Fairbanks, over several years. It was initially larger in scope, but feedback from the City Council slimmed it down to Barnette Street and 10th Avenue.

Olivia Lunsford, a transportation planner with FAST Planning, noted during a Technical Committee meeting that not everyone was keen on the concept.
