Mobile Airport Authority leaders say construction on the new downtown terminal is now running under budget and on track for substantial completion by August 2026, marking a major turnaround after last year’s bids came in far higher than expected.

MAA Chairman E. Luckett Robinson delivered the update Tuesday morning at the existing downtown terminal, steps from the new facility now under construction at the Brookley Aeroplex. He said the project team spent the first half of the year untangling why costs had ballooned and determining whether to pause construction or try to close the financial gap.
