NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio -- A recount in the Ward 6 City Council race has confirmed that incumbent Michael Wos won the seat by five votes over challenger Edward Cyngier.
The recount -- done at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 4 at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections Warehouse on Perkins Avenue -- was automatically triggered because the vote margin between the two candidates was .36 percent.
Ohio law requires an automatic recount in municipal elections whenever the vote margin between candidates is .5 percent or less.
“I am very honored to be re-elected for a fourth term to City Council, even if just by five votes,” Wos told cleveland.com in an email.
“This is proof that in local elections, every single ballot really does count.”
