DENTON, Texas — Former North Texas head coach Eric Morris, who recently accepted the head coaching role at Oklahoma State, will not coach the Mean Green in their bowl game, the university announced on Tuesday.
Morris had coached the team for the American Athletic Conference Championship, where the team lost to Tulane . With the College Football Playoff no longer an option, the university has decided to officially turn the page on a new chapter.
“After several thoughtful conversations with Coach Eric Morris over the past week, we mutually agreed that with his impending transition to Oklahoma State, the best path forward for both programs is for Eric to turn his full attention to his new role in Stillwater," UNT Vice President and Director of Athletics Jared Mosely said in a statement.
