A 39-year-old Bergen County man is facing charges after a search of his home turned up more than 26,000 files depicting child pornography, authorities said.

Julio A. Fernandez, of Palisades Park, has been charged with distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. 

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at Fernandez's home, during the course of an Internet child sexual abuse material investigation, Musella said.

The investigation found that Fernandez used the Internet to view, download, and possess over 26,000 items "depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children," the prosecutor said. He was arrested and charged that day, and remanded to the Bergen County Jail, Musella said.
