One of the most unexpected returns in NFL history became a reality when multiple reports confirmed on Tuesday that the Indianapolis Colts were signing 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers to their practice squad.

According to NFL insider Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, Rivers may not be a spectator when the 8-5 Colts play at the 10-3 Seattle Seahawks this coming Sunday.

"I will not at all be surprised if Philip Rivers takes every first-team rep this week at practice for the Indianapolis Colts," Jones said during a Tuesday afternoon appearance on CBS Sports HQ. "I will not at all be surprised, at this point ... if Philip Rivers starts this upcoming Sunday for the Indianapolis Colts."
