TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A Toledo woman will spend two years in prison after being convicted of child endangerment.
On Nov. 4, Melisa Ferencz appeared in court and withdrew her previous plea of not guilty. She then entered a plea of no contest to the charge of endangering children. According to court documents, with the plea change, her charge of possession of cocaine will be dropped at sentencing.
She was sentenced to two years in prison on December 9.
Robert Ferencz had also been indicted, but his charges were dropped in August.
Police reports said the mother of the victim drover her daughter to an area hospital on May 13, saying she thought the child was choking. Doctors determined the child was suffering from acute hypoxic respiratory failure and had tested positive for cocaine.
