Springbank Farm Hub gardeners have been left reeling after a series of break-ins at the rare Charitable Research Reserves agricultural area.

In a news release from rare, a reserve spokesperson said the North Dumfries farm hub — containing an 110-plot community garden, educational garden and food bank garden — has been victimized by a series of thefts.

Items taken include a zero-turn riding lawn mower, two push lawn mowers, gas and electric trimmers, and a five-tonne Miska dump trailer. The equipment was securely stored, the spokesperson said.

Damage has been estimated at $30,000.

The spokesperson said security video has been shared with Waterloo Regional Police.

Chris Iden, a police public information officer, said police responded to the theft reports in October.
