On Tuesday at 1:34 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from Wednesday 4 a.m. until Thursday 1 a.m. for Herkimer County.
"Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches with higher amounts 4 to 8 inches well north of the New York Thruway," can be anticipated according to the weather service. "Snowfall rates up to 0.5 per hour likely through early afternoon Wednesday with 0.5 to 1 inch per hour snowfall rates mainly north of the New York Thruway Lake effect snow develops overnight Wednesday and continues through Thursday. Additional winter weather advisories may be needed."
