On Tuesday at 1:34 p.m. a winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from Wednesday 4 a.m. until Thursday 1 a.m. for Southern Herkimer.

"Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches with higher amounts 4 to 8 inches well north of the New York Thruway," can be expected according to the weather service. "Snowfall rates up to 0.5 per hour likely through early afternoon Wednesday with 0.5 to 1 inch per hour snowfall rates mainly north of the New York Thruway Lake effect snow develops overnight Wednesday and continues through Thursday. Additional winter weather advisories may be needed."

"Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning
