The Fresno County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved Dr. Trinidad Solis as the county’s new Health Officer, effective immediately.

Dr. Solis takes over from Dr. Rais Vohra, the longtime interim Health Officer who guided the county during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Solis, a Fresno County native, has been with the county’s Department of Public Health since 2020, serving as a public health physician before being promoted to Deputy Health Officer in 2022.

In her new role, she will oversee public health programs, issue health advisories, help develop health policies, serve as the county’s Registrar of Vital Statistics, and coordinate with local hospitals and healthcare providers.
