Eric Grant was sworn in Tuesday to continue serving as the court-appointed U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of California, following a vote by the district’s judges to reappoint him under federal statute.

Chief U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley administered the oath, extending Grant’s tenure beyond the 120-day interim appointment he received from Attorney General Pam Bondi on Aug. 11.

Grant, a longtime Department of Justice attorney, previously worked in Washington, D.C., including as a deputy assistant attorney general in the Environment and Natural Resources Division, where he oversaw more than 100 litigators.
