TOLEDO, Ohio — After she voted against Senate Bill 56, state Sen. Paula Hicks-Hudson said in a statement the bill's passage on Tuesday "undermines the will of Ohio voters" who approved the legalization of recreational marijuana statewide two years ago.
The bill, which passed 22-7, now heads to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine's desk, who is expected to sign it into law.
According to the Ohio Capital Journal , if signed, the bill would ban intoxicating hemp products from being sold outside of a licensed dispensary, make it illegal to bring marijuana purchased out of state back to Ohio, cap THC levels in adult-use marijuana extracts and limit the number of recreational dispensaries in the state to 400.
Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) criticized the bill in a statement on Tuesday.
