The California Highway Patrol and El Dorado County Sheriff's Office are investigating the single-vehicle crash Sunday that killed a couple whose two children were flown to a Reno hospital.

The family was in a Chevrolet pickup when it crashed into a tree in Kyburz, California, between South Lake Tahoe and Placerville on Highway 50 in El Dorado County. It is about 90 miles from Reno.

The couple were confirmed dead at the scene shortly after the accident around 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Their names and hometown have not been released.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said the names will be released once "all proper next of kin notifications have been made."
