NORFOLK, Va. — People across the Southside stepped outside Tuesday to make the most of the brief snowfall that moved through Hampton Roads.

One day after winter weather blasted the region, communities across the Seven Cities were left with a mix of snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. Even with the cold, some residents said they were ready for it.

“It’s great. I mean, there is salt everywhere, so I have to watch my step and wash my floors when I go home, but otherwise it’s great,” said Nick Nickles.

13News Now traveled through Suffolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Norfolk to capture what conditions looked like throughout the morning. Snow and ice lingered on the ground in several neighborhoods. As some of it melted, concerns grew about the potential for black ice.
