BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A man who pleaded guilty to child sex crimes was sentenced Monday, December 9 to 20 years in prison with 10 years suspended, according to Bedford Police.

Bedford Police arrested and charged 44-year-old John Eddy Witcher May 21, 2025 in a warrant sweep . Witcher was charged with three counts of use of a communications system to solicit a child under 15 years of age. The arrest followed an investigation by the Bedford Police Department’s Detective Bureau.

U.S. Marshals and the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest.

Witcher’s prison sentence is set to run concurrently with another, according to police.
