CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - On Tuesday, West Virginia House Republicans laid out their priorities ahead of the upcoming legislative session.

The agenda has a heavy focus on job opportunities and economic growth. House of Delegates Speaker Roger Hanshaw (R-Clay) said that, when surveyed, 81 of the 91 Republican House members said their top priority was creating jobs and growing the economy.

“We know that the way to best advance West Virginia is by empowering local people and local communities to make their own decisions about their own economic future,” Hanshaw said during the press conference.

He said the agenda will have three pillars:

Building a workforce-ready education program

Prioritizing job-creating businesses

Responsible economic growth
