A proposal to rezone a two-acre, city-owned lot in Little Elm for a two-story whiskey and cigar lounge is drawing strong pushback from nearby residents. They said the project is far too close to their homes.
The project, known as The Whiskey Blendery, would include barrel storage, event space and a second-floor patio just yards from backyards. Neighbors said the business itself is not an issue. Their concern, they said, is focused on the location of the project and speed of the approval process.
“I’ve lived here 19 years. When we first moved here, this was a horse pasture,” Ryan McCallion said. McCallion is opposed to the project as his backyard is next to the lot.
