ORLANDO — The Pirates have made their first move of MLB’s winter meetings, signing left-handed reliever Gregory Soto to a one-year, $7.75 million contract.

Soto, 30, went 1-5 with a 4.18 ERA last season for the Orioles and Mets.

A seven-year MLB veteran, Soto has also spent time with the Tigers and Phillies.

His best season came in 2021, when Soto went 6-3 with a 3.39 ERA for Detroit appearing in 62 games.

The addition represents a much-needed addition for the Pirates bullpen, which lacked a late-inning southpaw.
