Tax cut or tax credit?
Would you rather receive a tax cut or a tax credit? With a tax cut, taxpayers pay less in taxes up front; and with a tax credit, taxpayers pay higher taxes up front, but then must file a tax return in order to receive a refund of their taxes.
During the Wolf Administration, corporations received a 50% tax cut over a period of several years; and in the 2026 state budget, lower income taxpayers were granted a tax credit; but they have to pay higher taxes up front, and then they have to file tax returns in order to receive a refund of those taxes.
Would you rather be a corporation, or a lower income taxpayer?
