OGLETHORPE, Ga. — A Macon County mother is remembering her son after police say he was attacked by dogs over the weekend in Oglethorpe.
The family of 41-year-old Raphael Woolfork says they want people to focus on who he was, not the way he died.
“My heart is heavy. It hurts,” his mother, Judy Woolfork, said.
Police say Woolfork was walking along Chatham Street early Saturday morning when three dogs attacked him. He was taken to a Central Georgia hospital with multiple dog bites and later went into cardiac arrest.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an autopsy to determine his official cause of death.
Oglethorpe Police said they captured two of the three dogs involved in the attack on Tuesday. They are still searching for the third.
