MADISON (WKOW) -- After five years of planning, the City of Madison Planning Commission has approved a new 16-story apartment building on Wilson Street in downtown Madison. The project will replace the existing small apartment complex with a 320-unit building that will not include on-site parking.
"We're making the building less expensive to construct, and then we can charge lower rents," said architect Doug Pahl.
The site is only about 66 feet wide, leading designers to omit underground parking. Pahl said underground parking isn't necessarily practical for the site, and the team wanted to get the highest and best use out of the property.
