Orange County Public Schools are considering changes, including potential closures, at seven schools due to a significant drop in student enrollment, as district leaders face financial challenges.

"The Orange County School Board will be discussing the schools next Tuesday at a work session. So nothing's etched in stone just yet. Seven schools that are under-enrolled have been identified," said Gail Paschall-Brown.

Teresa Jacobs, OCPS Chair, emphasized the difficulty of the situation. "The decision to close the school isn't something that any single one of us wants to do. It's not something the superintendent wants to do. The reality is we may have to make some tough decisions," she said.
