Shoppers are being warned about the dangers of modified e-bikes ahead of Christmas . Couple Natasha Johnson-Mall and Karlo Bogdan were killed in a blaze caused by a faulty battery in November 2024.

Natasha, Karlo, and their two dogs died when a major fire broke out at their Stoke Aldermoor home in the early hours of November 8. Firefighters discovered the blaze was sparked by a self-converted e-bike battery that had been left charging overnight, as reported by CoventryLive .

It is believed the battery attached to the e-bike was purchased via a private seller on an online marketplace and converted using YouTube . Karlo was said to have had 'no idea' of the danger the modified battery posed.
