44 former judges extend support for CJI in Rohingya case:Open letter of signatories says, 'Statement was misinterpreted, Rohingyas are not refugees under Indian law'

44 judges from the Supreme Court and various High Courts have publicly backed Chief Justice Suryakant’s recent comments in the Rohingya case. Their collective support came through a joint letter, signed by all of them and released on December 9.

The letter stated-

We, the retired judges, strongly object to the malicious campaign being run against CJI Suryakant's remarks in the case of Rohingya migrants. Criticism is acceptable, but this campaign is an attempt to tarnish the image of the judiciary.
