A quick shot of wind and warmth is on the way today ahead of our next cold front. Southwest winds will ramp up through the day, with gusts 25–35 mph at times, especially closer to the coast.
Tonight, a dry cold front sweeps across Eastern North Carolina. The only real impact will be a wind shift and a temperature drop. Skies clear out and cooler, drier air pours in behind the front, sending lows into the mid 30s inland and upper 30s to near 40 along the coast by daybreak Thursday.
Thursday and Friday will be classic December sweater weather. Highs only reach the mid to upper 40s, and with clear skies and calm winds Thursday night, many inland spots drop into the mid and upper 20s, with low to mid 30s along the beaches.
The weekend brings one more brief warm-up before the real cold arriv
