The son of a prime witness against jailed and suspended Trinamool Congress strongman Shahjahan Sheikh in the 2019 post-poll violence case in Bengal’s Sandeshkhali was killed in an accident on his way to court on Wednesday.
The accident, which occurred on the Basanti Highway near Boyarmari, involved a head-on collision between a private car carrying the witness, Bhola Ghosh, and his son to court and an empty truck. Bhola’s son, Satyajit Ghosh, and the car’s driver, Shahanoor Molla, died at the scene.
They were on their way to the Basirhat Sub-Divisional Court for a hearing in a separate case when the accident occurred. This has led to strong suspicions of foul play and demands for a thorough CBI investigation into the circumstances of the accident. - Ends
