A Scots dad was found dead in a hotel room in Colombia . ‌

Ross Macquarrie, 38, was discovered by housekeeping staff at his lodgings on November 11. The dad-of-one, from Mauchline in East Ayrshire, had flown out to South America for a two-week solo trip on November 5. ‌

His ex-partner Lindsay Melvin, 44, who shares three-year-old daughter Blake, told the Record the dad mentioned he wasn't feeling well on a FaceTime call with his daughter shortly after arriving. ‌

Lindsay raised the alarm after Ross hadn't responded to text messages for days.

Speaking to the Record, Lindsay, 44, said: "Ross absolutely loves to travel, he's been everywhere. When he said he wanted to go to Colombia , it was nothing out of the ordinary.
