WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWQC) - Iowa and Illinois lawmakers are trying to protect kids online.
Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin and Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley introduced three bipartisan bills to fight the rise in online child exploitation and hold offenders accountable, according to a media release.
“Today, offenders are engaging in sadistic online exploitation and coercing kids to take their own lives,” Durbin said in the release. “Big Tech continues to fail our most vulnerable because they refuse to incorporate safety-by-design measures into their platforms or make meaningful efforts to detect the increasingly violent and depraved sexual exploitation of children on their services.”
