Hospitals, GP surgeries and community services across Kent are expected to be heavily disrupted when resident doctors stage a five-day walkout in the run-up to Christmas.

The strike, running from 7am on December 17, 2025, to 7am on December 22, 2025, is part of a national dispute over pay and working conditions.

NHS Kent and Medway says the action is likely to put considerable strain on already busy winter services and is urging the public to use them responsibly.

Hospitals are expected to face pressure on emergency departments, inpatient wards and specialist units, while GP practices may see reduced capacity and longer waits.

Resident doctors, previously known as junior doctors, are qualified medics who work under senior supervision while completing their postgraduate training.
