Mahoning County Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti will not run for reelection to her seat next year, she told 21 News Wednesday.
Rimedio-Righetti, 69, grew up on Youngstown's North Side and is in her fourth term as a Mahoning County Commissioner.
She began her career as an administrative assistant for the Mahoning County Planning Commission. In 1975, she moved on to become an assistant clerk for the Mahoning County Board of Elections until she retired from the position in 1999. In 2003, Righetti was elected as councilperson in Youngstown's 4th Ward.
Righetti's term was set to expire January 1, 2027. She says that she will finish out her term, but that "it's time to step aside" and bring a fresh perspective into the office.
