Dare County Sheriff’s November Blotter highlights financial fraud crimes
On Dec. 2, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, as it does on a regular basis, issued a Scam Warning to residents. This one was about perpetrators contacting individuals and telling them that an arrest warrant has been issued for failing to report for jury duty.
“Court and/or law enforcement officials do not contact the public requesting sensitive financial information or payment to avoid arrest,” the warning stated.
While the prevalence of various types of financial fraud in Dare County cannot be quantified, the Sheriff’s recently released November 2025 Blotter for the county’s unincorporated areas provides a snapshot of the incidence of these crimes.
