At a Trump rally billed as being focused on the economy, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie undercut one of Donald Trump’s signature campaign promises by openly acknowledging that prices have not come down. While attacking President Joe Biden for the higher costs Americans continue to face nearly 11 months into the Trump administration, Mackenzie conceded that slowing inflation does not translate into immediate consumer relief.

“That does not mean that prices come down when we say that we have tamed inflation,” he said. “It just means that we have stopped the rate of growth.” Trump repeatedly campaigned on lowering prices for everyday goods, but many voters have yet to see that materialize in their own budgets.
