PRINCETON, Ky. — On a cold December afternoon almost exactly four years after tornadoes devastated western Kentucky, Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., and company handed keys to four brand-new homes to families who have waited for a place to call their own again.

The ceremony in Princeton, timed just weeks before Christmas, marked another milestone in one of the longest disaster recoveries in state history.

“Four years, almost to the day after this tornado came through, we are still showing up for these families,” Beshear said after watching a 10-year-old girl excitedly show him her new bedroom. “Knowing the last family that gets in a home is just as important as the first.”
