A Dec. 9 shooting at Kentucky State University left one person dead and another critically injured, police said.
The shooting occurred on the south side of campus after 3 p.m. near the Whitney M. Young Jr. Residence Hall, police said. One individual, who is not a student at the university, was arrested and facing murder and assault charges. Frankfort Police is leading the investigation.
“We understand how unsettling incidents like this can be for students, parents and our community, but please know that the safety of our residents and our campus partners remains our top priority,” Frankfort Police Assistant Chief Scott Tracy said during a Dec. 9 evening news conference. “We will continue to work closely with Kentucky State University as this investigation moves forward.”
