The Colts ' new practice squad quarterback Philip Rivers won't have to strike a back-room deal to get his traditional No. 17.

With former starting quarterback Daniel Jones, who was wearing No. 17, on season-ending IR with a torn right Achilles tendon, Rivers can wear the number he use his entire 17-year NFL career.
