Another piece of the Mets ’ 2025 bullpen is leaving New York.
Left-handed reliever Gregory Soto is joining the Pittsburgh Pirates on a one-year, $7.75 million deal, according to ESPN’s Jorge Castillo .
Soto began the 2025 season with the Baltimore Orioles and the Mets acquired him at the trade deadline as they tried to bolster their bullpen depth. They also brought in right-handers Ryan Helsley from the St. Louis Cardinals and Tyler Rogers from the San Francisco Giants.
Over 25 outings with the Mets, Soto posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.625 WHIP with 26 strikeouts.
The Mets also watched their star closer, Edwin Díaz, sign with the Dodgers in free agency on Tuesday.
It’s a reported three-year, $69 million deal with the two-time defending champions for Díaz.
