The Kyrene Governing Board on Dec. 9 heard two new proposals for closing fewer schools as it heads toward a possible vote next Tuesday.

Those two new proposals apparently will be considered along with the existing proposal if the board does decide to vote Dec. 16 on some closure plan.

But the board’s discussion during the Dec. 9 study suggestion indicated little consensus on how many schools should be closed.

About the only consensus that emerged is that if the board decides to pull the trigger and vote next Tuesday, Dec. 16, and one of the three measures passes, Colina, Estrella and Manitas will be shuttered next year while Kyrene Traditional Academy would close the following year.
