Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has issued a stern warning as the state tightens safety rules across its tourism sector. After a high-level review meeting, Sawant said that recent tourist accidents were unacceptable and “must never happen again.” He emphasised that all water sports, adventure activities, hotels and tourism operators must strictly follow safety norms, licences and procedures. The Chief Minister made his toughest statement yet, saying: “Those who give private cars, private bikes or dual-number vehicles on rent will have their licence permanently cancelled.” He added that many accidents involve unregulated rentals and the government will adopt a zero-tolerance approach.
