A predator has been jailed for rape and numerous sexual offences after using a fake dating profile to lure a young man to his car and rape him. Abdullah Shahnamy, 44, of Elizabeth Walk, Reading, posed as a 26-year-old on Grindr, and matched with a man in his twenties. He then sent him a location to meet up in the east of Reading on October 31, 2024, where he raped and sexually assaulted the victim in his car .

Shahnamy was arrested on February 25 and charged on March 1. He was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years’ imprisonment at Reading Crown Court on Thursday, December 4. Following a six-day trial, he was found guilty by a majority verdict for one count of rape, one count of sexual assault and three counts of sexual activity without consent on September 2.
