Russia has issued a barely concealed warning to the UK, outlining what circumstances would prompt Vladimir Putin to "go to war with Europe".
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov praised Donald Trump for attempting to bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine, whilst criticising Britain and EU nations for being "openly destructive" regarding the peace proposal put forward by Washington and Moscow.
"As the President [Putin] emphasised, we have no intention of going to war with Europe," Lavrov stated. "We have no such intention. But we will respond to any hostile steps, including the deployment of European military contingents in Ukraine and the expropriation of Russian assets."
