Plans to restore a dilapidated former Felling nursery into new flats have been approved by councillors. It is hoped the plans will bring a now vacant and vandalised historic building back into active use.

Proposals to convert an ex-nursery and former 1920’s labour exchange , Holly House, into nine new apartments were approved by a majority vote of twelve in favour, to one against and one abstention. The site, which is part of Gateshead Council’s list of iconic and historical buildings, has been vacant for years and has been subject to water damage, vandalism, and other incidents of “anti-social behaviour”, according to the council’s own report.
