Staff at an award-winning Byker care home said winning a prestigious award was a "real boost" as they look to continue supporting adults with dementia. The team at Byker Lodge were named "best care team" at the regional Great British Care Awards in late November.

And now they are on the shortlist for the overall national prize - which will be awarded in Birmingham next spring. The home - operated by Newcastle City Council - offers respite and short-stay care for around 25 people with dementia.
