City Park has long been a favorite hangout spot for New Orleans residents and tourists alike, featuring art exhibits, beignets and swan boat rentals.

The sprawling 1,300-acre park was recently selected as one of the best city parks in the U.S. by Washington Post readers.

Over 170 years after it was first established, City Park continues to be a must-see spot for visitors today. In addition to a warm café au lait at Café Du Monde and a visit to the New Orleans Museum of Art, The Post highlighted the park’s distinct ecosystems as well as its walking and bicycling paths.

“I spent many hours watching my children play at the playground and climb on the oak trees,” Teresa Ogden, a Post reader who has been visiting the park for 40 years, said. “I now take my grandchildren to play.“
