The family of a West Lothian man who tragically died from lung cancer after prolonged exposure to asbestos has won a court battle to claim compensation from Scottish Power .

Robert Crozier, from Livingston , worked as a mechanical fitter for the energy company at plants across Scotland between 1969 and 1992. He died of mesothelioma in 2018 aged 79.

The disease is a form of cancer in the lining that covers the outer surface of some of the body’s organs and is often linked to asbestos exposure, reports the Record .

Prior to his death, Mr Crozier had claimed compensation from the energy company because of other asbestos-related health problems he developed during his employment.
