PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Shootings in Peoria fell sharply compared to 2024, according to the latest data reported from the city’s police department.

That data showed the number of shootings dropped by 16 percent and the number of shooting victims fell by 18 percent in 2025. In addition, the total number of fatal shootings dropped 53 percent and the number of murders fell 35 percent.

Overall, ShotSpotter alerts dropped from 946 to 874, a decrease of 72. The number of shooting incidents fell from 74 to 62, and gunshot victims dipped from 87 to 71.

Homicide numbers also fell, with the total number of homicides falling from 20 to 13. The number of homicides from gunshot wounds also fell by nine, from 17 to eight.
