LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky lawmakers heard testimony on health care priorities Wednesday as they prepare for the 2026 legislative session, with Medicaid costs and drug treatment programs among the key topics discussed.

The Medicaid Oversight and Advisory Committee met for several hours, hearing requests for various bills as the state faces a budget year with rising health care costs.

“When it comes to Medicaid, we have gone from under $10 billion 5 to 6 years ago, now we are looking at $20 billion,” said Rep. Ken Fleming, R-Louisville.
