NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - It’s been four years since a deadly tornado outbreak broke out across Kentucky, taking over 50 lives and leaving nearly 550 injured.
Three tornadoes touched down in the span of one day and left miles of damage spanning multiple counties.
The first tornado
An EF-1 touched down in Muhlenberg County around 8:32 p.m. It lasted for about a few minutes and traveled just under three miles just outside of Central City.
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado reached estimated peak winds of 95 miles per hour and was about 75 yards.
The tornado left many trees and large branches broken near and along the Western Kentucky Parkway starting that the Wendell Ford Regional Training Center and continuing to Central City.
