The Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence will be included in the Historic Harrisburg Association’s (HHA) annual housing tour after an April firebombing severely damaged the home.
The HHA’s Candlelight House Tour, scheduled for 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, highlights “extraordinary Harrisburg residences and architectural landmarks.”
Around 2 a.m. April 13, shortly after Gov. Josh Shapiro and his family finished a Passover celebration , 38-year-old Cody Balmer scaled an iron security fence, eluded police, and set the residence ablaze using two Molotov cocktails.
Balmer later told police that if he had encountered Shapiro after breaking in, he planned to use a hammer to beat him .
